Stewardship

Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” I Corinthians 4:2 NKJV

To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an
abundance
. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.”
Matthew 25:29 NLT

[Read verse 14-30]

You hear people say, “I can do what I want. It’s my life. I am not hurting anybody. It is my body; I
can do what I like with it and that is not true. We belong to the Lord our God. We carry His things
in us – gifts, talents, wisdom etc. The Bible says,
“Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ
and
stewards of the mysteries of God.” I Corinthians 4:1 NKJV

The things we are able to do in this life are a mystery. “As each one has received a gift, minister
it to one another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.I Peter 4:10 NKJV. If you
have a gift of being hospitable, use it as a good steward. Never say you don’t have any gift or
anything to offer. Moses was asked what he had in his hand.
”So the Lord said to him, “What is
that in your hand?
” He said, “A rod.”” Exodus 4:2 NKJV

There is at least one thing that you were given. The minimum talent given to the stewards was
one. Do not despise what you have. The widow did not think what she has was good enough
. “So
she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a
little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for
myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die
.” I Kings 17:12 NKJV

God will not demand what He has not given to you.

Stewards were common in the biblical culture. Most wealthy people and rulers had stewards to
whom they entrusted the oversight of personnel and property. Firstly, Abraham had Eliezar (Gen.
15:2). He proved to be very faithful (Gen. 24:1 2 Secondly, Elisha had Gehazi (II Kgs. 4:12). He
proved to be an unwise steward (II Kgs. 5:20-27). He acted in his own interest and abused his
stewardship. May we be found to be good stewards by God. Christian stewardship, is the
practice of selflessly managing everything we have—our talents, time, money, relationships,
health, etc.—for God’s glory. At the end of the day, we want to hear our master say “well done,
good and faithful servant.”. When Jesus Christ returns, we must all hear those words. You decide
if He will say that to you or not. If we are going to thrive this season, we must be good stewards.
